DEEPLY ROOTED

LOVE LETTERS|DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR SINGLES|DAY 130

Scripture for today

Matthew 13:5-6 AMP
Other seeds fell on rocky ground, where they had not much soil; and at once they sprang up, because they had no depth of soil. But when the sun rose, they were scorched, and because they had no root, they dried up and withered away.

I had come out for altar call for so many times, sometimes after hearing a preacher talk about how awful hell was I would rush out because I didn't want to go to hell. After a few days I would go right back to the very things I have said I wouldn't do again. Why was I going back to my vomit? At a point it became so confused about the whole salvation thing.

The truth is that didn't mean I wasn't born again but the word of God didn't take root in my heart. In my enthusiasm sometimes I had even gone out for evangelism even without really understanding the love of Christ. The word wasn't rooted so I quickly gave into temptations once they arose.  That's why we struggle most times the word of God isn't just rooted in us. It didn't mean we have not come to Christ we just have not allowed God's Word to work within us.

God's Word is powerful we should not just take it in the surface we should allow his word be deeply rooted in our hearts.  That way we will be fertile grounds for his fruits.

Prayer: Father,  may  your word be deeply rooted in my life.
