OUR GREATEST ENEMY

Scripture for today

Matthew 16:22-23 Then Jesus made it clear to his disciples that it was now necessary for him to go to Jerusalem, submit to an ordeal of suffering at the hands of the religious leaders, be killed, and then on the third day be raised up alive. Peter took him in hand, protesting, "Impossible, Master! That can never be!" (Msg)

Have you ever shared your goals with someone and they tell you, please be reasonable it can't be achieved?  You know Jesus was telling his Apostles of the great work God has given to him to bear and Peter rebuked him.  Peter seem to be the oldest amongst the apostles. And he seem to be the closest to him. He felt he knew so much about Jesus he could tell that God's plan for him was not to go and suffer.

People who seem to be closest to you seem to be the ones who rebuke you the most when you decide to step out and obey God.  Obedience to God could sometimes earn you foes and enemies even with people you trust the most.  God has called us to live for him totally.  To be sold out completely to him and not care what others are saying about us in regards to our Obedience to him.

If we read further in the Scripture above we will find Jesus rebuking the devil.  Humans are never our real enemies, Jesus knew it wasn't Peter talking but it was the devil. Our real enemy is the devil he is our greatest adversity on our journey through life.

Prayer: Father, may I be so obedient to the core.
