YOUR HEART CAN DECEIVE YOU

Scripture for Today

Jeremiah 17:9 AMP
The heart is deceitful above all things, and it is exceedingly perverse and corrupt and severely, mortally sick! Who can know it [perceive, understand, be acquainted with his own heart and mind]? [Matt. 13:15-17; Mark 7:21-23; Eph. 4:20-24.]

The Bible says that the heart is deceitful above all things. It means that what our hearts says might not be what God is saying concerning a situation. I know so many times my heart has desired to move out of a particular situation but when I go to God in prayers he will tell me to stay. Even in life their are people who have hurt me so badly, I felt so bad I felt I should leave such people, I felt they should never hear from me again but God is telling me something different. I remember when I was in the University I had 2 roommate who I had issues with, at a point I wanted to move out. All I desired was moving out I felt I should be in my own place on my own but when I went into prayers to confess my desires to God he asked me to stay instead. I am glad I stayed because now I have life long friends who have stayed by me through thick and thin.

What ever we feel in our hearts might certainly not be what God wants for us. We might desire greatly to do a particular thing but when we expose ourselves to the total will of God through prayers he will reveal what he really wants to us. A time spent at God's feet should not be compromised over how you feel over something. Tell him just how you feel, he understands but tell him you want his will done above your desires. Also believe he has heard you because he truly has.

Prayer: Father, I pray that I will attuned to hear you will at all times in all situations.
