Scripture for Today

Ephesians 4:26-27 Go ahead and be angry. You do well to be angry—but don't use your anger as fuel for revenge. And don't stay angry. Don't go to bed angry. Don't give the Devil that kind of foothold in your life. (Msg)

Last week we talked about bitterness and how it is the root of so many other negative things in our lives. It was indeed a deep lesson for me. I remember growing up as an angry child. I could get angry over very little things majorly because I didn't want anyone to take advantage of me due to my stammering. I would use my fist since my words were not coming out as fast as I wanted them. I would fight almost everyday just to prove my point. I was angry over very little things and almost everything.

Well now am grown up, I no longer stammer nor do I fight but I have found out that anger is a strong ingredient the devil uses to steal my joy sometimes. I try so hard not to get back at people when I am angry they have wronged me but sometimes it doesn't seem to work. Sometimes I fail woeful and have to seek God's mercy. I have learnt to give over my emotions to God and give him the whole of me to control.

God's command to us is that we shouldn't use our anger as a fuel for revenge, we should not allow our anger ride us. We are to exercise control even in our anger. Let our anger be for good not to bring up evil.

Prayer: Father, help me control my anger and not seek revenge.
