BUILD YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD

LOVE LETTERS|DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR SINGLES|DAY 194

Scripture for today

Genesis 5:23-24 AMP
So all the days of Enoch were 365 years. And Enoch walked [in habitual fellowship] with God; and he was not, for God took him [home with Him]. [Heb. 11:5.]

Is God just one of those things you remember when things are tough, is he one person you believe is just up there with a whip to spank you for doing wrong? Is he just that big being up there that is not accessible, that takes a lot of good deeds from you before he can do anything for you? These questions above are part of the major misconceptions we have about God. If there is anything God desires from us it's a relationship. Let's look at his intention in the garden of Eden,
Genesis 3:8 AMP
And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden.

God's intention for man before the great fall is that of a close working relationship with man, in the cool of the evening he was walking in the garden. Let's look at it this way, God is a relationship based God. He wants a relationship with us that's why he sent his son to reconcile us back to himself. The life of Enoch was that of a close and habitual relationship with his God that why he never saw death. He walked with God continually.

God is not that big Boss waiting to fire you once you mess up, if you walk with him you will understand how abundant his love and mercy is. You can talk to God and he talks right back. Get to know him more by reading his word, ask him for guidance when needed.  God has expressed his love to us in several ways all we need do is to embrace it.

Prayer: Father, I long for a relationship with you, help me build it.

  1. I love most the part where you said "God is a relationship based God". It makes perfect sense to me, considering how he has been to me. I need to work on my relationship with him. Thanks for this reminder.
